Just found out that I am executor and trustee of my mothers will. I already knew I was an executor and understand that role but the trust? It is for my children when the youngest reaches 21and the solicitor's letter is the 1st I heard of it. Can I be made a trustee without being asked? (Mum passed in Dec) and what does it entail. I know i need to meet solicitor but don't even know where to start with this! I am an only child and was expecting it to be straightforward - she never mentioned anything about a trust when she was alive. Her money is in her bank account.

All that it means is that you will look after the money for your children until they are old enough to have it for themselves.
