If someone works 2 days per week on Mondays and Fridays, is it correct that they will therefore only get to choose 3ish days holiday as the remainder of their annual leave will be taken up by set bank holidays?
(Standard annual leave entitlement which includes bank holidays)

If it's two full days a week/40% then you will get the same proportion of the 8 bank holidays, added to the proportion of your annual leave. If one of your working days falls on a bank holiday then where I work you have to take it as annual leave, or work another day to make it up.

That's the usual way of doing it afaik

Assuming you're in England, there are eight bank holidays, five of which fall on Mon or Fri (based on a calendar year, it may vary if your holiday year is different).

If you get the statutory minimum holidays, then you're entitled to 11.2 days per year.

Therefore there are 6.2 days you can choose yourself.

Working 2 days a week and using government statutory entitlement gives you 11.2 days leave including bank holidays.

In 2019, 5 bank holidays fall on Friday or Monday, so that gives you 6.2 days to use elsewhere.

Statutory holiday is 28 days of which most employers include the 8 bank holidays, 5 of which fall on a Monday or Friday, Christmas day, Boxing day and NYD can fall on any day.

As a part time employee working 40% (2 days), you are entitled to 11.2 days 5 of which will be taken by BH's leaving 6.2 days to choose.

Some employers may allow you to work additional days to give you other days in lieu.

Thank you all - yes I'd overlooked Xmas/New Year not necessarily being on Monday/Friday.
