Will - Executor - Conflicting Bequests

I am the executor of my aunt’s will in which she has left “her estate” to A, B and C.
Her husband died 10 years previously. In his will he left “his estate” “in trust” to A, B, C (same people as in my aunt’s will) and D (who my aunt has excluded for no apparent reason). My aunt was the executor of her husband’s will but does not appear to have done anything to ring fence his estate. She carried on living in the family home and collecting investment income from their joint investments - which is what he intended but I cannot now tell what was his and what was hers.
Can anyone advise me on how to sort this out? I will consult a solicitor.
D does not know about my uncle’s bequest - but I do and believe it should be respected.

Perhaps ask an accountant to take a look at it, but run it by a solicitor first. If the husband's estate was tied up in a jointly owned house she may well have inherited that via survivorship if they owned as joint tenants, and the same may have applied to joint investments.
