Planning permission in Scotland

Hi

Does anyone know if you need planning permission for building a garage on land rented from the council.

Also, what are the restrictions on size?

I'm asking as a garage has been constructed on council land at the rear of my house and it is almost twice as large as the rest of the garages.

The fact it is council land is irrelevant as far as planning permission is concerned. However, building the garage may be a breach of the lease.

You can find the rules on planning permission for Scotland here. I suggest you look at the rules on permitted development.

Of course, the simplest approach may be to ask the council.
