Will he be able to find my address?

I have been asked to be a director of the management company that manages my home and a handful of others. I'm not sure if I can decline.

I am worried that if I am a director listed in companies house my ex will be able to search online and see my address, as the management company registered address is the same as mine.

I think you’re right to be concerned. Try speaking to Companies House.

Thank you Collaborate I've also googled someone who I know is already a director and the address is showing. I'll have to say I can't do it as it will put me and my DC in danger.

Yes you can decline.

Why would you do this? What is in it for you?

avocadosuite · 04/12/2018 21:18

The registered office address is the managing agents address, but the directors listed also have their residential address listed for correspondence.
Apparently I signed something when I bought the house which meant I could be called upon to be a director.
There is nothing in it for me.

Directors provide two addresses to Companies House - their residential address and an address for correspondence. The address for correspondence is available to the general public. The residential address is only available to credit reference agencies and certain public authorities. So, as long as you can provide a different address for correspondence, your home address does not have to be listed publicly.

It would still be a risk as the other director is using their home address and subsequent directors who live on the development may do the same. It would make me uneasy to be linked to virtually the same address as my own. I will try to decline.

If it wasn't for the risk of my ex finding me I wouldn't mind being a director. It's a small development, some properties are rented and the owners of those properties don't get involved unless they have to. I am already one of the residents who is more involved in the management of the development, so from that POV it wouldn't be that different.

To OP

I am Director of a Limited Company and only the correspondence address appears on the Companies House website.

I am Director of a Limited Company and only the correspondence address appears on the Companies House website.

She has already explained that even if she did that, the address will still appear linked to her as the others are registered there.
