Posted in the doghouse topic but actually this may be a better place

Hi, my grandma wants to adopt a rescue dog. After been paired with a couple they've had too many issues so she's a dog for sale through her friend. (She doesn't want a puppy)

So I'm taking her to look at it on Monday. She's just messaged me (grandma) saying she's going to ask the current owner to sign something saying she will take her back after a month if it's not working. For a full refund.

That's never going to work is it? Legally my grandma won't have a leg to stand on surely.

I doubt the owner would sign it. How would she enforce it? What are the previous issues with the dogs?

A contract doesn't even need to be in writing so it being handwritten isn't an issue here. Contracts have been around a lot longer than typewriters.

Even if she gets them to sign it, what does she plan to do if they refuse to take the div back? Realistically she's not going to sue them.

Thank you. I didn't think it would be worth anything. To sue her would cost more in time and effort than what being exchanged 😂
