Boiler too big

Hi , a friend lives in a rented two bed flat the landlord had a boiler installed that is much too big for the property so much so that the cupboard door won’t close , we feel it’s for a bigger property , she slots her gas with a card the colder weather is upon us and it’s costing a fortune to keep the flat warm she’s on benefits as well
She has been in touch with the managing agent who were totally unsympathetic and doubts that the land lord will replace it with a smaller one . Any advice please ?

Just because it's bigger doesn't mean it uses more gas. It costs a lot to replace so she will just have to put up with it

I was told by a plumber recently that when my boiler needs replacing it a new one will not fit snugly into the space mine is in like it does now because the regulations mean that the pipework has to be different now so it will stock out a few inches more. It sounds as though the same has happened here.

Is the landlord resident in the building by any chance??

No the landlord lives abroad so I’ve been dealing with the managing agent
It’s only a small flat the boiler is run on immersion as well she really needs a combi
But as earlier mentioned it costs Money the boiler is an eye sore sticking out of the cupboard it’s clearly for a bigger property

If there is a gas boiler then it should heat the water rather than use the immersion heater. The immersion is normally for backup. I don't have a combi, I have a gas boiler and a hot water cylinder and tanks in the loft
