I have a friend who has had years of financial physical and mental abuse from her husband, she has tried to leave twice, and returned, they have plenty of money but he has all the control over this, how does she leave and have access to this money, I think it’s a joint account, can she see a solicitor and get some control? I had to actually file the divorce and it has taken me 3 years fighting for financial settlement, my money is frozen from business sale, I’m on benefits and a friend gave me free accommodation to be able to leave my husband, I was unaware of the financial control my ex had until I left, but my friend is pre armed if you call it that, she needs money to find a place to live, I want to help so she doesn’t end up in my situation or worse staying with him because she doesn’t know where to go , ? Obviously I would take her in but I’m still homeless myself and having to lodge until settlement.
