I am signed off sick for three months long term health problems, I have recently had to sell my business due to this, been fighting ex through divorce for three years, we had the first hearing at which all my assets business sale money were frozen, ex disputing sale, basically he has dragged everything out, he had full control of our finances I had no personal account no savings and until 2 years ago he had control of my wages, long story but financial abuse, I have had to claim for benefits as no income, and his solicitor put it in the form E ?? “Was I claiming benefits if not why not “. He refuses to pay voluntarily maintenance, so my solicitor has requested court order, my question is if I’m on benefits will they say he doesn’t have to pay the maintenance? He is in the marital home refusing to sell , has high income, I left due to his control.

If you are on Universal Credit it may be reduced if you receive Spousal Maintenance.

Thank you MissedTheBoatAgain , I thought that but wasn’t sure if court would say he doesn’t have to pay as I’m on benefits.
