I just needed some advice regarding a driving matter. Ok so me and my ex partner were in a car park when and elderly couple were trying to park. I was a passenger. The couple got out claiming we had hit them. Which seemed unlikely as my ex partner was getting something from the back seat. He and other party agreed no visible damage and to leave it at that. Anyway the couple stayed in the car park and we left. Few days later police turn up at ex partners claiming he had left scene of an accident. He explained what had happened and that I was a witness. I give my honest statement and to my disgust two members of staff having given statements claiming we left the scene. I am fuming. What is worrying me is it's making me look like a liar which isn't true. What may happen with this I am so worried

I suspect nothing but did you photograph the cars? This would have proved no damage and hence the agreement to walk away. The Police don’t seem to have much to do in your area. This isn’t worth pursuing so the police won’t. However, stick to your view of the event and go and take pictures. What did the police say to you?

Nothing will happen to you. Your ex could be charged, in which case you could be called to give evidence on his behalf. But nothing else is likely to happen.

That's exactly what we said. It's a pity they don't have any real crimes to deal with. He didn't take photos unfortunately. It all happened very quickly. I am shocked that two staff have given statements as I remember quite clearly there was nobody around. Because my statement of what happened it's different from the others I am concerned I could be accused of pergery. It's all very odd what's going on. They bumped our bumper my ex partner agreed to leave it at that then rang police after we left making a big scene. They can't have been going more than 1mph it was barely noticeable. Nobody hurt no damage. My ex isn't worried but I'm quite an anxious person
