Hi there
A year or so ago we were given a s20 works notice for some roof work at our flat. The flat is one of two in the building
The letter spoke of 2 quotes, quite similar , and quoted an amount plus vat
We didn’t have the breakdown of the quote but they said we could view the real quotes at their offices ( !!!)
Anyway the lower quote was acted on and work done. We paid the bill as requested which was the quote plus £500 admin plus vat
Then a few months later they say there was an overspend
When pressed they said that they had got the quote wrong and that the amount we paid with vat as a total was actually the net amount. And that we now owe the vat on top!
I think this is so so unlikely! Think they taking the piss!
Question is, do we have to pay? Or have they messed up the section 20 process by providing an incorrect quote originally?
They have now given us the original quote from the company which has the higher figure on it but surely it’s the landlords mistake originally and they should just swallow this?
Any help appreciated!!!
