Insurance Claim

Neighbours house has a wet cellar which kept flooding, after a few months we noticed our front garden was flooded, we called the water company and they found an underground water pipe was leaking, causing the flooding to our garden and had seeped through to next door cellar, we contacted our insurance company and gave the details to next door, they claimed and all was settled through our insurance, today we receive a solicitors letter acting on behalf of their Insurance wanting to claim over 2k as they stating we neglected our duty of care to our neighbor for ignoring the water leak and failing to act and get it repaired, where do we stand, obviously in the previous months we had no idea there was a leaking pipe as its underground, once we found it we got it repaired, as far as the neighbors are concerned the whole thing has been dealt with and they are happy.

Pass it to your insurers. They will deal with it. If you were not aware of the leak I would expect them to fight this claim on your behalf.
