Car insurance

I wasn't sure where to post this so it may not be In the most suitable place. We are currently sorting out our parents paperwork, insurances etc and arranging power of attorney.

During this process it had come to light that their car insurance is in our dads name and our mum is a named driver on his insurance. This has always been the case (as I'm sure it has been for a number of couples of a certain generation). Trouble is my dad has handed back his driving license as his sight has deteriorated significantly. This was his own choice, not something he ha been forced to do. Any idea where this stands with the car insurance?? I assume that it is invalid as he does not have a licence??

Thank you for your help.

You would need to inform the insurance as your mum is now the main driver rather than a named driver. I don't know if they will cancel the old and set up a new one or whether they can change the existing policy
