Fallen branch - am I liable?

A branch from a tree at the end of my garden broke off in he storm today and landed on the roof of a neighbour's bungalow. I don't think there has been any damage but I'd just like to know what the law is before there's any conversation with him. Would anyone know the answer to this?

Thats not strictly true if the OP had not been maintaining the tree and the tree fell over and caused damage to the neighbouring property she would be liable.

I believe if it’s unforseeable ie in a bad storm then no you’re not.

If the tree was half rotten to such an extent it was obvious to anyone or you’d left a half hanging branch dangling for weeks on end then possibly.
