Hi,
Need help please. I'm a first time buyer who has applied for a mortgage with Santander just recently. Before applying we had mortgage of principle first to see what we can afford. Whilst doing the MIP my husband clearly stated that he is on spouse visa and wanted to make sure if he is able to apply with confidence. Santander told us that's fine and that we should continue with it.
So with confidence we applied for a mortgage once we put in an house offer. After, Santander taking every single details of us and doing a hard credit check. We waited patiently. They took more info of my Husband even though he worked in this country for eight years.
After, it went to the underwriters and they had a look. Just yesterday we had seen that it has been APPROVED. We were both over the moon that we passed the first stage of it. But then at the same day in the evening it says we have outstanding information to hand in. And what we only needed to give was 3 month bank statement. We went online to see what stage we are in and the stage was not on the underwriters. We ended up being at the very first stage again!!!
It's not fair and very lengthy that we have to wait. It's made me and my husband very depressed and we lost hope completely. We are having a panic moment since we are waiting for Santander to confirm something so that we can pass it on to the vendors who are being impatient about it. I don't think we will buy a property as Santander is rubbish and not sorting it out quickly. Not fair we went to the first stage again. I kept calling them and they said they can't contact the underwriters as they are not allowed.
I have made a grave mistake by going to Santander. I should have gone to Halifax.
I'm not sure what I have to do as I tried brokers and they recommended Halifax. But little did we know. I would never recommend Santander to anyone.
