Name change and passport

I’m changing my name, not marriage or divorce just a personal choice.

If I change by deed poll and update bank accounts, driving licence etc, can I use my existing passport with the ‘old’ name.

Again this is personal choice re not updating passport that has 8 years left.

TIA

As long as you book tickets in the name on your passport you’d be fine.

You couldn’t book a flight in your new name & travel on the passport in your old one. Does that make sense?

As long as your travel tickets are booked in the same name as the passport you are using it's fine. I was married 5 years until I changed my passport and just booked tickets in my maiden name until then.

I believe deed polls ask you to declare that you will use the new name "for all purposes". So I suspect you'd be expected to change your passport too.

The deed poll company should be able to advise properly, though.

I am not sure if it is the same for changing your name by deed poll but I can still use my passport in my maiden name as long as plane tickets are in my maiden name also. I take my marriage certificate when I travel just in case but it hasn't ever been an issue.
