Going back to maiden name

How easy is it? Do I need a deed poll? Also what about passports? I renewed my passport last year. If I change my name back do I have to change my passport? And then if I take the kids away and they're surname is different to mine am I going to have problems leaving the country?

I got a letter from my solicitor and that has sufficed for everything I ever needed, along with my decree nisi once I had it.

You're still legally your maiden name, you can just use it again as you like. You don't have to change your passport at all, you can wait until you renew and go back to your old name on it then, or you can renew in your married name if you want to keep it for that.

When you use your spouses name its more like you add that on as another legal name, you never lose the right to use the name you were born with. It will always be your name.

So how do I go about going back to it for bank, rent, benefit office etc?

you just tell them you are reverting to it and show your birth certificate if they ask for it.
