Do I need a contract?

I'm starting a new company and have hired a garment technologist to do some design work for me including cutting some patterns.

She has signed a Non-Disclosure agreement. It's fairly casual and we had an initial meeting, but I haven't asked her to do anything yet. My question is, do I need some kind of contract or document that says once I pay her for the patterns or anything else then I own the rights to the designs? From looking on IPO.gov.uk it looks like I do. Is there somewhere I can get a template contract for this for?

TIA.

So she is not your employee, but a contractor, then the designs will generally be hers until they are assigned to your company - make it clear in your contract.
Are you directing her in detail or is it her designs? She probably has her own standard document already. I would add a standard confidentiality clause too (in addition to depending on NDA)

Yes, she's a contractor not an employee and I am directing the designs but she's putting it all together for me. I'll definitely include a confidentiality clause. Thank you!
