HOF Refund

Boring financial issue I'm hoping someone qualified can help with. DH purchased (online) & returned a £400 suit to House of Fraser before their demise.
They acknowledged receipt of return and subsequently went under/were bought out. No refund given. He paid via PayPal which was linked to his Barclaycard. What are his chances of getting his money back please?

Not sure about this but our local branch had a sign up saying that they are not honouring any gift cards bought before the takeover, so there is clearly a ruthless edge to things at the moment.

My guess would be that you might as well start pursuing the refund via PayPal or credit card, I'd be surprised if HOF will be paying out now.

Is it ruthless or is it the rules when a shop goes bust? I think I can remember it happening with other shops

You should be covered by PayPal so raise a case through them or your card company should refund you.

Do you have an online tracking number that shows the return as delivered to HoF? You will need to open a not as described case with PayPal (just make up a random reason as to why, like wrong colour sent). They will then tell you to return it and then upload the tracking number that show it as delivered back to them.

Credit card companies don’t to generally get involved with PayPal transactions. As they didn’t directly pay for the item.

No problem, please follow the exact steps I have explained. PayPal won’t get involved if you try to tell them you have already returned and they won’t refund.

Won't paypal realise from the dates on the tracking that the item was returned before the claim, or have I misunderstood?
