Parcel sent to wrong address

I ordered an item of jewellery online and forgot to change the delivery address in my account details to my new address. When the parcel didn't turn up I realised the mistake I'd made and texted the new house owner. She said it had arrived and I could collect it in a couple of days when she was off work. I called her today to ask if I could collect the parcel and she said she'd already taken it to the post office and returned it Hmm. My question is- if the company say they haven't received it back, do I have to pay for a replacement or can I claim a refund from my credit card. I'm so annoyed about this as I can't really afford to shell out another £80 for the same item again

I'd ring and explain what's happened and ask them. What method was it returned by ?

MotherOfMinions · 10/08/2018 19:07

I don't know. She's not answering my calls or texts now

^I don’t see how you are entitled to anything. The company sent it to the address that you stated. They fulfilled their side of the contract.

That's what I'm expecting. Am so annoyed she sent it back when she said I could come round and pick it up.

The cheeky cow , I’d put a note through the door saying that you’ve contacted the company who say haven’t received it back and without any proof will refuse to refund so I’d say will have to seak legal advice as it’s been signed for , she’ll crap herself and give it back .

Thanks, Sorry. That's a good idea. I have a gut feeling that she didn't send it back Sad

So have the company said they haven't got it back or are you thinking ahead in case they do?

You'd have to be a really good person to pay to send something back that you were sent by mistake, I'd also suspect she might have kept it. Is it too far away to go round and make her lie to you in person

MotherOfMinions · 10/08/2018 21:09

I phoned the company Patti and they haven't received it yet. I only live about 8 miles away so it's not too difficult to go round. I was thinking of doing that tomorrow so I could get an idea if she was lying from the look on her face

She might not have paid to return it though. I took a parcel back to the post office to return to sender for people who had moved. I had no means of contacting them and PO accepted it and wrote RTS on it. I assume it was just sent back.
