Financial order on divorce

My husband and I separated in March 2015 when he moved out. I have claimed benefits as a single mum, moved towns, worked my way up the career ladder and finally in Nov 2017 bought a house. DD is 5 and lives with me full time, visiting him for a week at a time in school holidays. He is living in his brother's flat while the brother works abroad.

We have finally agreed that it's time to sort the divorce - mainly due to laziness and putting money towards other things first. We're both happy with completely separate finances and monthly maintenance payments that he's been paying since moving out. But if we get a financial order, is my house at risk?

Sorry for the rambling post.

If you are both happy with the current situation you need to get a consent order to deal with the finances. Doing that will not put your house at risk. It will, however, stop him from coming back some time in the future and demanding a share of your house.

Thank you. I read that it was best to get an order but then panicked that the court could give him a percentage of my house even if he didn't ask for it.
