So I am expecting divorce papers, coming through any day.

Can anyone tell me, am I expecting a huge package or a single piece of paper.

I want to give myself sometime (When the kids aren't around to open it) so would like a good idea of what I am looking for them I can put it away until later.

A D8 (Divorce petition) is about 15 pages long - so expect an A4 package of at least 5 mm thick, possibly a bit more as there will be respondent forms included.

Thank you so much.

Even though I left him, I don't think it will be nice to receive the. And would rather do it when alone and have mentally prepared.

Thanks

To OP

At least you know the papers are coming. My ex filed without any advance warning and I received papers whilst they were out of Country. Things had not been going well for sometime and we had been to counselling a few months beforehand, but I never thought it would end like that.

I asked solicitor if I could defend the petition on basis that ex had not attempted other solutions such as mediation, but was advised that Courts might be critical of how ex had acted, but were very unlikely to reject a divorce petition.
