Financial disclosure

Hi. My partner filed for a divorce in April last year, then changed their mind and opened several credit cards in my name and transferred all of our debt into my name. Now after deciding to press ahead with the divorce in January, they have refused to disclose their finances, despite numerous requests. How do I force the issue?

Apply for a financial remedy offer by filing Form A in court. court fee is £255.

What does a financial remedy offer do/mean? What if they have been withdrawing money and closing accounts ahead of disclosure. I first requested bank statements back in January and yet its july and they haven't shared anything.

That was a typo. Apply for a financial remedy order. He’ll have to file a statement setting out all bank accounts held in the last 12 months.

You need legal advice. If you can't negotiate finances or if you don't trust your husband to provide full disclosure, then you'll need to start financial remedy proceedings where each party must give full financial disclosure and a Court will determine the fair distribution of assets.

It can be a fairly protracted process and I wouldn't want to navigate it without the help of a solicitor.

Oh I really can't afford more legal advice, and he has maybe 20 different cards and accounts and is constantly moving money. Plus I asked for disclosure in Jan and I suspect he is letting enough time pass to not have to reveal money he has hidden prior to asking for the divorce. I'm going to have to do it myself I think. All advice gratefully received!
