Scraped car?

Hi,

I need help. I’m really useless with knowledge on car repairs, garages etc. Yesterday I accidentally scraped just above someone’s wheel arch. It was very minor. My car had barely any marks just some bruised paintwork. I left a note on the persons car saying I would cover damages. They’ve rang and said they will get an estimate and that it’s scratched. Now I know this is vague but how much would I be looking at this repair? Just a rough estimate would be great as it’s coming at a very bad time for me and my partner so want to try and sort funds aside.

It will depend on depth and length of scratch. It will also depend on the repair centre and in some instances the type of paint.

You may be better going through your insurance if it's going to be too costly for you.

Make sure they get at least a couple of quotes for the work. Did you take photos of the damage?

I didn’t take a photo unfortunately. I got so panicky as my 3 month old was in the car crying and the stress of the situation. I did take a photo of my own car as I have barely anything to show, a couple of marks and they are not what I’d call scratches more grazed paintwork, certainly no depth to the marks. Yeah I was thinking about the insurance, it’s just obviously taking the hit with claims but that might be the option if necessary!

If one small scratch up to an inch or so with no dent around 250. If dented depends on so much, paint, car make, difficult to say.

Depends on the car. I had a scratch which cost £200 and a dent which cost £120!
