GDPR - ICO and 2 businesses

I have a very small business that does involve me keeping some personal data, I am also a buy to let landlord. I am a sole trader.

I have been trying to contact the ICO to see if I need to register (and pay their fee) twice or once only.

Anybody know the answer to this?

If you are a sole trader for both of these businesses you only need to register once. However, if either of the businesses is a limited company you will need to register each business separately.

Thank you. I'm a sole trader.

I'd check on the ICO website if I were you; depending on what you are actually doing with the data you may not have to register at all. I've just double checked for my businesses and none of them are required to register.
