Wills - what type and what to read?

I’d like a will that means if either I or DH die everything is left to the other BUT that then it’s left to our children.

Ie so neither of us can re-marry and cut out our children. I like planning for worst case scenarios.

Is this called a trust will?
Any good books I can read to get a feel for what the options are?

What you'll need to do btw is leave things to your OH for his life and then to children - that means that he won't have them absolutely so can't get leave them to someone else. You may need to leave something absolutely to your husband depending on finances and whether he'll need it but when you speak to a solicitor you can talk through what makes sense for you.

What you may wish to consider is a Life Interest Trust, which protects your respective shares in the home by putting them into trust on the first death, but allows the surviving spouse to remain living there until death or remarriage. I also include a portability clause to accommodate downsizing.
