Child maintenance.

As per the title I'd like some advice please.

My Xp has paid the same pittance amount for both of his children for years via private arrangement. He pays less for both children than he should for one child (roughly calculating what his wage is on the cams calculator). I felt sorry for him for a while with his sob stories until my adult dd told me a different story.

I've finally decided that I'm going to tackle this, I really hate confrontation and although our relationship is respectful it's not what you'd call friendly hence my rather pathetic reluctance to deal with it all.

My question is this, how to you go about finding out what his income is because I highly doubt he'll tell me the truth. Do I have to go via the cms or because I have a ball park figure of income (nhs banding) can I work out what I think is suitable and present him with my workings out.

I'd rather not rock the boat at all but as the youngest is almost a teen, costs are starting to rocket.

Any advice gratefully received.

Either go through CMS or ask for what you think he should be paying answer see if he agrees. My ex hasn't increased maintenance but it's the same amount with two now as it was for three so I'll not say anything although I suspect he's on more money now than when he originally left.
