So I left my ex 3 years ago. I just had an experian check and it says I still have a utility account open at my exes. Now firstly I didn't know he put in my name, but no way to price that . Secondly him knowing that I no longer live there kept the account open until last yr. So in theory was opening 'my' mail for the bills in 'my' name. Like I say I did not know this was even in my name but surely he should of changed it.. It did incur a debt, which was paid off a few months after but I worry it will affect my credit

You can check your credit rating via Experian and if there is any negative score you can check if that was caused by the utility bill and then appeal to them to correct it.

It’s not the criminal offence of fraud as he didn’t steal any money from you.

It may have been an online account so no post and paid by direct debit ?!

Is it paid up ?

Alwayssearching · 03/05/2018 18:02

Sorry it's paid up now. Didn't think about it being online. But either way it's not to my email address so would of been his.. By the looks of it it didn't cause a negative on the experian. But my clear score says its a negative as its a 'link' to that address. I'll contact experian and see what they can do
