Swearing the oath

Hi,
My DP is signing a contract to become a train driver, one of the perks is that I would get a travel discount. As we are not married I need to get a declaration by a solicitor, notary public or commissioner for oaths. Researching this seems to be taking me round and round in circles and I’d love a straight answer from someone who has done something similar.

  1. What’s the best place to find one of these people
  2. How much would be a reasonable charge.
I’m in London. Thanks so much!

Call an ordinary high street solicitor and ask. I think it was about £20 last time I did it.

You need to draw up the declaration yourself. The solicitor will charge £5 to administer the oath. If you actually want the solicitor to draw it up for you then the charge will be a lot more, and you’d have to go to a different solicitor to get it sworn.
