I have also posted this in craicnet. My Father has a house in Rep of Ireland he wishes to sell. He has provided the notice of termination to tenant(which expired 3 weeks ago) who refuses to budge. The reason is that they need to be 'forced' out rather than leave willingly so that they will then go top of the list for a council house.

We were told to open a dispute on RTB website. This could take months is that right? My father wants to simply change locks or take them to court but i think that will be costly as opposed to RTB dispute.

Tenant has been in 3 to 4 years and father has already placed house on market.

The PRTB has speeded up a bit, but there's so much of thing going on now and with the property crisis, there's even politicians telling people to remain in their houses.

Are the tenants still paying rent?

Tell your dad not to change the locks. They will fleece him.

Also. How much notice did your dad give them?

Spoony84 · 05/04/2018 11:33

He gave them 57 days but on doing research just now im not sure that's right.

Tenants are still paying rent fine.

I don't think there are any alternatives other than RTB dispute as tenant will not budge.

Some info that might be useful here touch.boards.ie/thread/2057833538

Mentions there that they are dealing with this type of case faster. Just make sure you dad is water tight on all the legal stuff.

Thanks. The link doesn't seem to work.
