Maintenance at 18

I have googled this and have got some very conflicting answers so hope someone here may be able to help!
I separated from my DD’s dad years ago, he refused to pay anything towards her care and I went to the csa.
He was absolutely furious that he had to contribute and since then he pays the bare minimum (self employed and lots of cash in hand!).
He hasn’t seen her for 2 years and she is about to turn 18, starts college in September and suddenly he is in touch with her asking what her plans are, uni, college etc, and I think he is trying to find out if payments can stop (it’s under £90 a month!)
Does he still have to legally pay towards her care whilst 18 but at college??
Although it’s not a large amount I do rely on this money and I also have a load of kit to buy for her course.
I can’t face having the conversation with him (there was dv among a lot of other issues) but obviously I will if I have to.
If I bring it up he will accuse me of being a gold digger Hmm but I can’t afford to sit back and wait to see if he continues paying or not.
Anyway I have waffled sorry, but thank you if you’ve read this far!!

Through the CSA my ex was able to stop paying for my DS the day he sat his last A level. I was told that even if he went to University there would be no more money through the CSA. They took it from his salary directly.

Thank you for that Blue..I’m worried
This may be the case and it certainly explains him getting in touch and finding out!Angry

If she leaves to go into 3rd level education then child benefit will stop and in turn your maintenance will stop. Normally from the first Monday in the Sept after she leaves school provided she doesn't start into a full job over the summer which causes your child benefit to stop. Child benefit will only remain in payment up to 20 on a very rare occasion normally due to the child being disabled etc.

If he owes any arrears he will have to continue paying something until they are cleared.
