need help! changing from joint tenants to tenants in common?

hi,

for various reasons I want to change from being joint tenants, to tenants in common with dp.

I know there is a form to fill in on the gov website, and I have filled it in. Just needs signing by both of us and posting.
However, will it just be assumed that we both own an equal share? That is what I want, 50% each, but there is nowhere on the form that stipulates this?

Also, do I need to inform my mortgage company? I cant find any information on this either.

thanks!

I would strongly recommend getting proper legal advice. The property is almost certainly your most valuable asset. You need to make sure there won't be problems in future as a result of this change.

In the absence of any deed of trust setting out the proportions in which you hold the property you would each own 50%, although in some circumstances the courts can decide on a different split if you separate.

Mumblechum did it for PIL - she advertises on here. It was simple and not overly expensive.
