Complaint

I have complained about my solicitor and received a letter acknowledging my complaint and promising an appointment with her senior within 2 weeks.
It's now midway through week 3.
This whole business is a joke, right?
Once they have your money they just take the piss in the cruellest way possible?
Is that how this works?
What else can I do?

Have you rung to ask when the mtg will be, this happened to us, slow, messages didn't get through, nightmare. You can file a complaint with the law society.

Thank you, I will ring tomorrow.
I was a bit scared of overkill - I'm not a natural complainer but things were absolutely ridiculous considering the money I've spent!
It's clear my solicitor doesn't even know the names of the people involved or who is alive or dead!
It's actually almost as upsetting as the reason I needed a solicitor. It's nor made things better but made it worse!

All these mistakes have been sent to the other party and to the court which has made me a target for further ridicule from the other party!
I would never have involved a solicitor if I'd known they would do this to me!

Make sure you have everything either in writing or email, all dates of meetings, what's discussed and the outcome. Good luck.

It feels like the worst thing I could ever have done!

Your Solicitor will be regulated via the legal ombudsman, you should be able to complain via them. Once you do this they'll contact the Solicitors and if they don't deal with your complaint in a set time frame or if you remain unhappy the Ombudsman will investigate and ask for their file etc

Ask for a copy of your file from the solicitor - so have all evidence.

Submit complaint to law society before time ticks on.

Have you paid all your bill? One way of applying pressure is to refuse to pay (or pay full bill)

Re the previous two posts - solicitors are regulated by the SRA, not the Legal Ombudsman (who deals with certain complaints).

The Law Society does not deal with complaints about solicitors.

Before involving the SRA or LeO you must exhaust the firm's internal complaints procedure, which they should have sent to you.

However, if the complaint system isn't working (no appointment) or they won't tell you what it is, that in itself may justify an approach to LeO.

Thank you everyone.

I phoned today and was informed a letter had been drafted asking me to contact them. It seems that it was 14 working days and not 2 weeks so today was the last day.
