British Nationality

Would be grateful for any advice, haven't found much info online.

I am a British national, as are both of our daughters who were born abroad. DH and I have been married for four years.

Have been looking online to find if/how he can apply for British nationality, but there is a requirement on us living in the UK.

We don't, and probably will never, live in the UK. We were married and live abroad.

Is it right that he has no possibility of becoming a British national?

Thanks in advance!

Yes you need to have lived in the UK for 3 years and he would also need ILR before applying for citizenship

If you don't intend to ever live in the UK, what value is it that you want to get from him becoming a British National?

Why should he get British citizenship if he has no intention of living here? There is a residency requirement that he will not meet so it will not happen

You have to live here.

Because he is from a non-EU country and has a living and working permit for non EU nationals, which is more limiting where we live than the same equivalent for EU nationals.

I realise that if Brexit goes ahead, that won't matter anyway, would just make things easier for us in terms of job contracts and applying for a mortgage. Thanks for replies
