A stupid question I'm sure, but I have googled and read the government guidelines and I haven't found the answer.

If I want to pursue a small claims, do I lodge it in the area where I live, or in the area where the prospective defendant lives?

Neither. Assuming you know how much you are claiming, you should lodge your claim online at www.moneyclaim.gov.uk.

Alternatively, if you want to use the paper form, you send it to the County Court Money Claims Centre in Salford. The full address is in the notes on completing the claim form.
