Rent guarantor

Hi

I’ve applied to rent a property through a letting agent. I paid fees and submitted the forms for referencing but because I haven’t rented before they’ve asked for a guarantor.

The only person I can ask is a full time NHS bank worker, which is the NHS internal agency. They have a brilliant credit history.

Will they accept this person? I don’t want to pay out another set of fees if their job will stop it from being successful.

Thank you

it's not just about their credit history unfortunately - it's also how much they earn. the agents will want evidence that they could cover the cost of your rent if you were to default, after they'd paid all their own living costs.

well, that's what they wanted when they credit checked my father as guarantor on my flat, and my rent is 750 so they wanted him to show he could afford it iyswim

We couldn’t find a guarantor so we had government pay 3 months upfront plus fees and deposit so worked about £4000

Sorry not government that should have said had to pay

Just in case anyone has the same question - he passed the referencing! So worth applying
