Aeroplane delays

My flight was delayed by 5 hours so I put in a compensation claim. It has been rejected because the delay was due to bad weather. However the weather issues did not affect my flight but an earlier one so that the plane was late arriving. In this circumstance is it fair for the airline to claim a weather exemption? There was no weather problem for my flight and had they had a plane it would have been on time. So the problem for my flight was their scheduling.

I appreciate this being a bit greedy but if there is a chance if free money i don't see why i shouldn't have it.

They followed correct procedures. It wa s knock on effect from bad weather, nothing to do with their scheduling.

They’re right. Although your flight wasn’t directly delayed by the weather it was an unavoidable knock on delay. Airlines don’t routinely have spare planes at every airport to cope with these things, if they did flights would be extremely expensive!

Thanks both of you for replying. I thought this was the likely outcome but felt it was worth a question.
