16 year old travelling abroad

My 16 year old DS would like to take a short trip to Luxembourg for a weekend. I’m happy for him to go, but can’t find any info as to whether he’ll be allowed to enter the country as an unaccompanied minor.

Flights don’t seem to be a problem, but I’m not sure what the immigration rules are, can anyone advise?

TIA

You get an adult passport at age 16 so are you sure he'd be viewed as a minor?

He has his own passport, so that’s no problem. But I know he’d have problems going to Portugal for instance, as he would have to prove someone over 18 was responsible for him while he was there. But I can’t find any info for any other EU country

Dd went to Belgium, Germany and China on her own at 16yo with no problems. Never crossed my mind she'd have issues in Europe.

Do you mean completely alone as unaccompanied?
Or as part of a group?

He’d be travelling with a small group of his friends, all aged 16/17. No one over 18.

They may have trouble booking hotels/ accommodation etc without one of the party being 18.
