Faulty straighteners, lost packaging

I brought new straighteners online 2 weeks ago, and they keep switching off. It’s not the automatic safety switch as they turn off within two minutes of being turned on. I want to return them for a refund as I no longer have faith in their quality; I was already disappointed as they felt a little cheap and flimsy when I got them. I have had really bad experience with their customer service and read I have a limited time to reject them. DH has thrown out the original box - not the brown cardboard box, but the branded packaging box.

Am I stuck now with a repair? They’re nearly £175 so I can’t afford to lose this money

You have proof that you bought them and if they are faulty you should have no issue getting a refund within 30 days.

They still should take them back. The packaging is not the product and the product is clearly faulty. They have a legal obligation to replace or repair and if that is unsatisfactory, refund.

Thanks, I’ll send them back without the packaging - already had WW3 over his habit of throwing out boxes for anything I buy yet we still have the box for the Xbox I brought him in 2006 (which gave up the ghost in 2009). Grrrr. I definitely want a refund, they’re crap, as I can see the saga going on and on if I get replacement
