Divorce and finances

Please can someone tell me if I apply for divorce do they sort the finances too or do you have to go to mediation?

I was trying to save costs. I thought if it would cost £550 for divorce fees, as have done the paperwork myself, of that covered finances then would be cheaper than paying out hundreds in mediation fees.
