From 10.30 this morning my gas was switched off as they think I have a dodgy boiler. British gas did this. My landlords sub contractor is saying they can't fit me in until Monday. So 4 days Without! I have a 16 month old so on emergency. Where do I stand on this?

There isn't an absolute law as no one can guarantee the response time for a fixit person. In addition housing associations are a law unto themselves.

I hope you've got some electric heaters and that the company pulls its finger out. Not good enough.

Just read update - only one engineer? Bollocks.

The engineer finally came yesterday but now it needs fixing rather than the gas just turning on. But I mentioned issues before that I raised with the previous contractors and he said it was just waiting to break but being off for a week has done it. So now waiting on parts and them to arrange a day to come out and fix it.

Also got a call from the housing association complaint department. I received no apology and had a brief chat about dates etc. She then said she would chase this appointment with the engineer and I didnt hear back from her!

This housing association has merged with 2 others I believe and has a reputation for being quite bad at fixing things Sad

Did the engineer leave you with heaters?
