Eurostar booking disaster

Just returned from a family holiday for 4 on Eurostar and when we got to the ticket barrier at Paris we realised that my DH had booked the return tickets for the wrong day and we had therefore missed our train back by a day!! We had to then buy seats for the train back to London which cost us over 900€! The seats we had already booked were much cheaper as we had booked them in advance.

I realise that this is our mistake, but after speaking to customer service at Eurostar today it seems like they will give us no goodwill on this.

Can anyone recommend what I may be able to do about this as this is a financial disaster for us.

It’s not unfair. Your Dh made a very big mistake. A costly one.

After the other thread of the husband who forgot to put in the grammar school application I suspect the more double checking spouses do of each other's tasks the better! Check, check and check again. In fact I sometimes send booked things to someone else and ask them to check it too.

Sadly there will be no refund here on any basis so hitting the husband over the head with the frying pan (joking) or sending him out to work 3 weekends out of 4 for months in a bar might be the only recourse to earn back the 900.

I did this with a night in a hotel and had to rebook was a painful waste of money
