Damage to property from workmen

Hi all,
We are having our loft done and we instructed the builder to have aluminium double glazed windows made. The windows arrived and the glass was the wrong size so we had frames but no glass. The people who actually made the windows came to fit the glass and dropped an entire double glazed unit in our brand new bespoke bath. This chipped the bath and has left a large area of tiny chips inside the bath. They did not cover the bath with anything. Not even a dust sheet. They cleaned up the glass then left the entire bucket of broken glass in our new bathroom.
We have asked for a new bath. They have offered to repair it. A repair is only guaranteed for 1 year and this bath was 3 weeks old and we hadn't even used it yet. We have refused. Now they will not return our calls and are constantly saying someone will phone us back.
I am guessing this will go to the small claims court.
Any advice?

Do you have legal cover on your home insurance, and do they know you're building?

Yes they knew we were building but the insurance said they do not cover tradesmen in the property. I have already spoken to them and they won't advise me at all.
