Has anyone complained about the Police

Long story but in essence over six weeks ago I made very serious allegations about my ex's treatment of me and our eldest child.
I spent almost 24 hours making statements, over several visits. Time ran out before all allegations could be committed to paper and I was promised it would all be transferred to the relevant police force since the abuse occurred away from where I now live.

Fast forward five weeks of desperately trying to get things ready Family court in relation to fleshing out issues to do with the children and I am no further forward. My ex knows I've made these allegations thanks to the urgent hearing he unsuccessfully dragged me through but is laughing.

I am filing formal complaints with both police forces tomorrow but wondered if anyone on here could share their experiences of complaining about such dreadful service and what happened.

I've not even been asked to give them any evidence, and they still haven't contacted me relating to an outstanding statement for one of the allegations. I was told by today I would have all the relevant details and opportunities to submit evidence etc would be established but no, nothing. And that was or promised by two separate officers.

I am at my wits end with it to be honest.

Can anyone give me some insight or share their stories bad and good?

I haven't but a friend of mine did, he went to the Police Complaints Committee (I believe it is called) and they came to his house and interviewed him.

I don't know of the outcome, but there is an independent body that does investigate peoples concerns about the police

Look at the IPCC website (independent police complaints commission) - but honestly 5 weeks doesn't sound long for police to investigate a case like yours so might not be the way forward (am assuming involves historic allegations? - but having worked with a number of police forces (ime) they are pretty useless if any thought / actual investigation work is required - not really their forte)
