Car warranty

I bought a 2nd hand car from a dealer a month ago. A dashboard light has come on - the DPF light. Should this repair be covered on the warranty?

Probably not, most would class DPF issues as wear and tear and many aftermarket warranties specifically exclude DPFs. Do you know what the actual issue is? Could just need a regen, has it done plenty of long motorway journeys recently?

I’m not sure what the issue is exactly. I took it on a long motorway journey and it came on the next day

You will need to get a diagnostic carried out to ascertain what the route cause is. If it is a regen then it won't be covered, the dpf itself may well be but all depends on who the warranty is with. Is it a manufacturers extended warranty or did you purchase from a non main dealer? If you didn't purchase from a main dealer and you have the diagnostic carried out at one you will have to pay for this as the warranty won't cover the diagnostic

Did your long motorway journey consist of high speed (70mph ish) for a reasonable amount of time (a good 15 mins in one go)?
