Ex has car insured at my home

A car insurance policy for my ex has just been delivered. He hasn't lived here for over a year, I thought he'd changed the address on the policy but clearly he hasn't and has in fact renewed under this address since he moved out in June 2016.
What should I do?

Are you still in contact with him? Insurance policies usually auto-renew so if you don't contact them they just continue. Is it likely that he may not have read his renewal documents?

Or likely it's cheaper to keep it insured at your address?? Ring them and pass on his new one. .

We're not allowed contact because of domestic abuse by him.
He was arrested because he assaulted me last month so in the middle of police, cps and social services stuff at the mo too.
Am thinking maybe I should ring insurance company and tell them when he moved out?

Definitely ring the insurance company. They won't be able to discuss it with you, but if you give them the policy number and explain that you've just had a renewal to your address, they should sort it out. I've had to do this a LOT. Most stuff got returned to sender in the end.

CotswoldStrife · 11/09/2017 11:45

You could just return the envelope marked 'not at this address' rather than spend any of your time ringing them, in that case. Let him sort it out!

Hope you are OK.

Personally I'd ring the insurance company or return saying no longer living at this address on the envelope. His insurance is invalid anyway if he's registered it somewhere he's not. All I'd say is don't be tempted to contact him xx

I would ring the insurance company and explain, and ask what to do with the paperwork.

Movingon1611 · 11/09/2017 11:55

Thanks all- have rung the insurance company they asked me to contact him I told him it's not possible so they're going to and I'm going to send the renewal back to them in the post

Return to sender doesn't always work, at least not immediately. I sent back plenty of stuff and it did nothing. Ended up having to call, but only bothered for the important stuff.
