CHILD ABDUCTION RISK?

I am from Colombia, husband is british. We were living in Colombia as a family for almost two years, but at some point he started to feel like a "fish out of water" and decided we needed to go to live to England. We could not afford my visa so I decided to go without it but it felt a bit fishy when I saw our daughter´s passport. She was registered here as Hannah and on the passport it shows Anna. I know it might not seem as a big deal but it does to me, more because he told me it was a mistake on the register office but it actually was not. Because god is merciful and I send the right email asking how to try and correct it, I ended up finding out that he signed the document on my behalf in order to change it. Not only change it but remove my last name from Hannah. I do not know what to do... Sad Confused

He has committed fraud at the registry office which in UK is an offence. Def seek legal advice.
And keep the passport with you at all times.

I am assuming that he changed her name in Columbia, before applying for her passport.

Whether one spouse can do that in that country without the other spouse present is a matter of Columbian law.

Your issues seem to be:

a) why on earth would he change her name without talking it through with you?
b) where you currently are - because the idea of coming to UK illegally seems a really bad one

What do you think he is up to?

HannahBanana3 · 16/08/2017 07:54

@MEDITRINA

He is already in England. I am in Colombia still. I was going to England as a tourist for few months while we got the money (which I think was not part of his plan) and he applied for british passport, honestly I do not know what else he did in order to get it. I only know that he forced my signature on the changing name document. I do not understand or know his plan, but does not feel right.

Where is your daughter?

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 16/08/2017 07:57

How do you know any of this if he is in Britain and you aren't.

OrphanAccount · 16/08/2017 08:00

I am not an expert but he currently hasn't abducted the children because you agreed to them leaving Columbia even though you weren't able to join them immediately. That is the big issue. Regardless of what name is on their passports, they are (presumably) British children living in Britain with their British father with the permission of their mother. I think you need urgent legal advice. The main concern from your point of view is not that he might take them elsewhere but that he will refuse to bring them back to Columbia if you are unable to stay in the U.K.

Where is Hannah? And what passport/s does she hold at present?
