Help - Second Hand Car Warranty

I hope that someone can advise please...
Bought second hand car from a dealer. Yesterday the clutch went when I was on the motorway. The dealer had given me a 3 month warranty, and he asked me to take the car to his preferred garage for repair. Today they called to tell me it was ready for collection. I asked what had been done to the car, and they mechanic responded sarcastically, saying: we fixed it. I said, "That's fine, so you will give me the paperwork tomorrow when I pick up the car?" He said, no we won't give you any paperwork, we give it to the person who paid." I can't understand why they won't confirm in writing what has been done. I'm concerned that they are being deliberately vague in order to do the bare minimum to keep the car running until the warranty expires at the end of the month.
As the legal owner of the car, am I not entitled to know what has been done to it?

Can you ask the dealer for the paperwork?

You have the contract for the warranty with the dealer so even if the garage won't give you the paperwork direct, the dealer should be able to give it to you. Where you stand legally will depend on what it says in the contract, but from a practical perspective, it would seem odd for the dealer not to pass at least a copy on to you unless there is something dodgy going on.

Assuming the car came with all its service history, I'd be inclined to request this from the dealer as part of the ongoing service history.

Stupid for the garage to act like that with you given that you'll be paying for maintenance on the car once the warranty runs out!

That's pants!

We bought a car last week and despite the fact it had just past it's mot and been serviced, the fuel pump went yesterday.

Garage man drove out to us this morning, gave us a spare car, took ours to be fixed and paid the bill (DH said he could see it was about £300 the bill).

I expect though as we didn't get given paperwork either it's an insurance thing linked to the warranty? I am not particular bothered though I guess I'll ask for a copy next time we are around to make sure we have a full service history.

Your garage doesn't sound so nice though, and I'm sorry for that.

Servicing won't stop bits failing, all it does is replace fluids and replace bits that are scheduled for a replacement.

Clutch is wear and tear (like tyres) your lucky it's covered and they are paying it.
They should be able to give you a copy of the paperwork though

It's not up to the garage to give you the paperwork. Ask your dealer.
