Probate question

If someone died 12 months ago would you expect the grant of probate to be on the uk database by now? Do all Willa appear on it?

It all depends on how quickly the executors got their arses in gear. There is no time limit as far as I am aware but am prepared to be corrected!

Is there any reason it wouldn't appear on that list?

It would not appear if the estate was small enough that grant of probate was not needed to release funds. This happened with my dfs noone needed probate to release the funds - a death certificate was sufficient.

Estate is £340k upwards

If an estate is subject to IHT (that's not clear from 340k figure), the first HMRC payment becomes due in six months so it would seem unusual not to be listed. If executors can't trace the original will it can be problematic - they don't have to be registered. Have you tried www.nationalwillregister.co.uk as well?
