Insurance question about a garage door that's being replaced

Recently had s garage burglary, and there replacing the garage door, I wanted to keep the old door as it would repair and sell it on to recover some expense of the stuff the insurance won't cover,but I've being told I can't keep the door as it's fraud
Just wanting to know where I stand as it's the first insurance claim I've ever made

They are right. They are replacing the door so the old door is theirs. They are entitled to any salvage value from it. You may be able to buy the old door off the insurance company but you cannot simply keep it.
